Chart C - Air Bag Warning Light Does Not Come On: Description

When ignition switch is turned on, IGNITION 1 voltage is applied to AIR BAG warning light that is connected to AIR BAG terminal No. A7 of SDM. AIR BAG fuse applies system voltage to IGNITION 1 input, terminal No. A10 of SDM. SDM responds by flashing AIR BAG warning light 7 times. If IGNITION 1 is outside normal operating range (9-16 volts) AIR BAG warning light will come on steady with no DTC set.

NOTE: Step numbers refer to step numbers on diagnostic chart. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM .

1) This step verifies bulb check for MIL (SERVICE ENGINE SOON warning light).
2) This step verifies that AIR BAG warning light will turn on with shorting bar at SDM connector engaged.
4) This step verifies circuit 39E, AIR BAG warning light bulb and circuit 358.
5) This step checks for short to ignition from circuit 358 or internal SDM failure.
6) This step checks instrument cluster connector and AIR BAG warning light bulb.
8) This step verifies continuity of circuit 358.
13) This step verifies IGN 1 fuse.
14) This step verifies continuity of circuit 39E.
15) This step verifies continuity of circuit 39E.
