Diagnostic Aids
A shorting bar in harness connector at SDM ensures AIR BAG warning light will come on steady if connector is not fully seated. If SDM harness connector, strain relief or CPA are installed incorrectly, AIR BAG warning light will be on steady.
NOTE:
Step numbers refer to step numbers on diagnostic chart. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAM
.
- 1) This step verifies AIR BAG fuse.
- 2) This step verifies that shorting bar at terminal No. A7 and A6 is open when connector and CPA are fully engaged at SDM.
- 3) This step checks if AIR BAG fuse will open again.
- 4) This step checks if malfunction is due to starting and charging system or SIR system.
- 5) This step checks for terminal tightness and continuity to ground from SDM.
- 7) This step checks if AIR BAG fuse will open again.
- 9) This step verifies that ignition voltage is present at SDM.
- 14) This step verifies that AIR BAG warning light does not turn on with shorting bar at SDM harness connector opened.
