Removal & Installation (With Seal Housing Removed)

  1. Remove flywheel/flexplate. See appropriate article in TRANSMISSION REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - M/T (manual transaxle) or TRANSMISSION REMOVAL & INSTALLATION - A/T (automatic transaxle). Remove seal housing. Set seal housing on solid surface. Carefully tap out oil seal using screwdriver and hammer. Apply a thin coat of engine oil to sealing lip and seal housing bore.
  2. Press seal into seal housing using an arbor press and Seal Installer (SA9121E). Apply a .080" (2.0 mm) bead of RTV sealant to seal housing-to-cylinder block mating surface. Immediately install seal housing. Tighten bolts evenly to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
