Diagnostic Aids

When PCM detects a fault (open, ground or short) in circuit, circuit is open internally for protection.

Check if condition is occurring when temperature is hot or cold. Use scan tool to determine temperature at time of failure. If condition is intermittent, attempt to reproduce DTC by checking malfunction history table using scan tool.

Poor electrical connections can set DTC or cause intermittent 2nd gear starts. Check connections at PCM, actuator connector plate or underhood junction block terminals. Wiggle connectors while performing actuator test.
