Piston Rings

If end gap and side clearance exceed specification, replace piston and/or rings. See PISTONS, PINS & RINGS  table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS. Ring No. 1 (top ring) is thinner than ring No. 2. Ring No. 1 can be installed either way. Ring No. 2 must be installed with mark on ring flat facing upward. Before installing piston, stagger ring end gaps 90-120 degrees apart.
