Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.
  2. Ignition OFF for more than 60 s, test for less than 10 Ω between the low reference circuit terminal 6 and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
  4. Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter is Undefined.
  5. If not Undefined, test the signal circuits terminal 5 and terminal 12 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster
  6. Ignition ON, install a 680 Ω resistance between the signal circuit terminal 12 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch parameter is Up.
  7. If not Up, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
  8. Ignition ON, install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and the low reference circuit terminal 6. Verify the scan tool Driver Information Center Switch is Menu.
  9. If not Menu, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the P16 Instrument Cluster.
  10. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S78 Turn Signal/Multi-Function Switch.
