(TA010-1011) DTC and ECU information: Background

In GDS (Global Diagnostic System) on the SAAB 9-5 (650) it is possible to read all Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC) and ECU (Electronic Control Unit) information and store as a log report. The benefit of doing this is to get the exact software status and DTC in all ECUs of the car when it arrives to the workshop.

This log report is a great help when contacting technical assistant centre (ASAC).

The logfile is saved in the GDS and it is accessible when the vehicle has left the workshop.

NOTE: It is only the latest report that is stored in GDS, which means if you make a new report the former is erased unless you store it locally on a computer (see saving procedure).
