Circuit/System Description

The driver window motor and passenger window motor each receive a discrete input from their respective door ajar switch signal circuits. The rear door window motors (with AER) or the rear door window switches (with AEQ) receive discrete inputs from each of the rear door ajar switch signal circuits. The door ajar switches are integral to each door latch assembly. When a door is opened, the normally open door ajar switch closes. With the door ajar switch closed, ground is provided to the door ajar switch signal circuit. This is interpreted by the window motors and/or window switches, which communicate this status to the body control module (BCM) via the local interconnect network (LIN) bus. The BCM communicates with the instrument panel cluster via a GMLAN message. The instrument panel cluster, upon receipt of this GMLAN message, will illuminate the appropriate door ajar indicator and also send a GMLAN message to the radio to activate the door ajar audible warning when the vehicle speed is greater then 8 km/h (5 MPH).
