Automatic (position 0)

If the switch is in position 0, +30 voltage for the interior lighting will be fed to DICE pin 46. DICE receives information via the bus from TWICE concerning the status of the doors (OPEN/CLOSED; LOCKED/UNLOCKED) and the ignition switch (OFF/ON/ST). When DICE detects this information, it will either turn on or turn off the interior lighting.

+30 voltage is fed/not fed from pin 23 on DICE to the interior lights (50F and 50C).

DICE monitors the interior-lighting circuit internally. The control module does this by measuring current and voltage across a resistor located in the control module on pin 23. If the voltage/current ratio undergoes a change, DICE responds. In the case of high load, the control module shuts off the output.

IMPORTANT: All lamp outputs are protected by short-circuiting.
Do not change to lamps of a higher wattage, since the outputs are not made to withstand a permanent overload.
If the wattage goes unduly high the short-circuit protection will immediately trip.

With the interior-lighting selector set to 0, the lighting is always switched on or off in the form of a fade-out or fade-in. The operation is linear and takes two seconds.

When the selector is set to 0 for automatic operation the interior lighting works as follows:

  1. If the driver's door is unlocked, by key or remote control. The interior lighting remains on for 30 seconds if the ignition switch is set to LOCK and the key is taken out.
  2. If one or more doors is/are open when the ignition switch is set to LOCK, the interior lighting remains on for 20 minutes, after which it is switched off automatically.
  3. If one or more doors is/are opened when the ignition switch is set to ON (+15 and +54), the interior lighting will be on until all doors have been closed.
  4. If all doors are closed, the interior lighting remains on for 30 seconds if it was already on before the doors were closed (position 0 or 1). Otherwise, the interior lighting will remain off.
  5. If the ignition switch is turned to ON (+15 and +54) while the interior lighting is on, the lights will at once be switched off. The same applies if the car is locked by remote control or with the key.
  6. When the car key is removed from the ignition the interior lighting will go on for 30 seconds. The light will fade in (brightness increases) during the first 2 seconds.
