Rear bumper abutment 5D: Fitting

- Drill holes for plug-welding in the spare part.
- Grind clean the surfaces on the body and the spare part that are to be welded.
- Apply welding primer to the surfaces that are to be plug and spot-welded.
- Position the new rear bumper abutment and secure it in place with a few welding clamps. Check the alignment using the alignment bench measuring system.
- Shut the boot lid and check the fit of the rear plate.
- Weld the rear bumper abutment in place.
- Smooth off the welds.
- Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
- Apply primer to all bare metal surfaces.
- Seal joints and seams with sealant.
- Apply PVC substitute to the underside of the rear plate.
