- Drill holes for plug-welding in the spare part.
- Grind clean the surfaces on the body and the spare part that are to be welded.
- Apply welding primer to the surfaces that are to be plug and spot-welded.
- Put the new rear plate in position and fix it with a few welding clamps. Check the fit with the alignment bench measuring system.
- Shut the boot lid and check the fit of the rear plate.
- Plug and spot-weld the rear plate.
- Smooth off the welds.
- Remove any remaining welding primer. Welding primer reduces adhesion of paint, filler and sealant.
- Apply primer to all bare metal surfaces.
- Seal joints and seams with sealant.
- Apply PVC substitute to the underside of the rear plate.
