Seat Air Bag Modules: Removal

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Slide seat forward as far as it will go. Remove 2 rear seat track mounting bolts. Slide seat fully rearward and remove 2 front seat track mounting bolts. Tilt seat rearward, cut cable tie and disconnect 29-pin seat harness connector. Lift seat out of vehicle.
- Unfasten cord that holds lower edge of backrest cover. Remove upholstery fasteners and pull stiffening board out of backrest upholstery.
- Disconnect air bag electrical connector from 29-pin seat harness connector under the seat. Release cable by cutting cable tie. Observe length of cable for reassembly reference.
- Unfasten rear part of backrest cover by unfastening cover battens along seat sides and fold cover out of the way. Remove adjustment mechanism from lumbar support.
- Unfasten cover fasteners along edge of rear part of backrest frame and fold the cover to the side. Detach 2 wire rods that hold front lining at bottom rear edge of seat. Unfasten felt cover, on air bag side of backrest hinge by unfastening hook in Pullmaflex® net.
- Remove plastic coated resistance spring. Remove 3 air bag retaining nuts. Observe seat air bag cable length for reassembly reference and remove seat air bag.
