Passenger-Side Air Bag Module: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Passenger-side air bag module is located in right side of instrument panel. Remove bolts and expansion rivets securing glove box and pull glove box forward. Disconnect glove box light and set glove box aside. Remove side panel. Remove knee shield. Remove floor air duct and side air duct. Disconnect air bag connector. Remove screw holding safety band to steering beam. Remove 6 air bag retaining nuts. Lift out air bag. See Figure.
