Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Clockspring is located under steering wheel. Remove driver-side air bag module. See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE . Ensure wheels are in straight-ahead position. Remove steering wheel, leaving steering wheel retaining nut on shaft to serve as a stop. See STEERING WHEEL . Remove upper and lower steering column covers (3 screws). Remove 2 clockspring retaining screws. Disconnect electrical connectors and lift out clockspring. See Figure.
