WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect left side impact sensor connector. Inspect both halves of connector for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. Disconnect air bag control module harness connector. Check air bag control module harness connector terminals No. 41 (Yellow-Green wire) and No. 42 (Blue-Green wire) for open circuit or pin slide-out. Repair as necessary. See Figure. Go to next step.
  2. Install air bag control module harness connector to Breakout Box (BOB). Measure resistance between BOB test pin No. 42 and Blue-Green wire of left side impact sensor harness connector. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, repair or replace Blue-Green wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Go to step  6.
  3. Measure resistance between ground and BOB terminal No. 42. If resistance is infinite, go to next step. If resistance is not infinite, repair or replace Blue-Green wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. Go to step  6.
  4. Measure resistance between BOB terminal No. 41 and Yellow-Green wire of left side impact sensor harness connector. If resistance is 0-2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, repair or replace Yellow-Green wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. Go to step  6.
  5. Measure resistance between ground and BOB terminal No. 41. If resistance is infinite, replace left side impact. Go to next step. If resistance is not 0-2 ohms, repair or replace Yellow-Green wire between air bag control module and side impact sensor. Go to next step.
  6. Reassemble vehicle. Clear diagnostic codes in all systems. Road test vehicle at various speeds and loads. Verify that no diagnostic trouble codes are present. If no diagnostic trouble codes are present, repairs are complete. If diagnostic trouble codes are present, go to BEFORE REPLACING AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE  under DIAGNOSTICS.
