Heated Rear Window
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Saab 9-3 and 2000 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
If in-vehicle temperature is lower than 50°F (10°C) after starting engine, electric heating of the rear window and door mirrors is switched on automatically. This takes place after a delay of 10 seconds by a short pulse being sent to Dashboard Integrated Central Electronics (DICE) control module.
The DICE control module grounds a feedback lead to the ACC control module, causing the symbol for the heated rear window to light up in the ACC control module display.
On the basis of battery voltage, the DICE control module regulates the length of time heated rear window is on (12 minutes maximum). Regardless of whether the ACC control module has switched the heated rear window on or off, it can be controlled manually from the ACC control module.
