Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Saab 9-3 and 2000 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The engine coolant temperature is used by Dashboard Integrated Central Electronics (DICE) control module to control the radiator fan and to switch off A/C compressor at high coolant temperatures. ACC control module uses engine coolant temperature as an input value to determine air distribution position and fan blower motor speed during cold starts.
