Removal & Installation: Evaporator: Removal

  1. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Remove glove box. Remove center console right side panel. Remove passenger's side knee bolster. Remove air ducts on floor and to panel side vent. Remove A/T control module from bracket and allow to hang by harness (if equipped). Remove bracket.
  2. Open cable ties under instrument panel and move harness to one side. Turn down carpeting and remove protective covering. Remove climate control unit end cover. End cover must be screwed into place when reinstalling. Disconnect evaporator anti-freeze sensor connector and remove sensor.
  3. Raise and support vehicle. Working from engine compartment, remove A/C pipes-to-expansion valve bolts. Remove expansion valve and plug all exposed openings. Using shears, cut evaporator pipes. Lower vehicle and remove evaporator from passenger compartment.
