Procedure For Crash Repairs

The following directions apply to the repair of a car with collision damage where at least one airbag has been activated.
- If there was a passenger in the rear seat, all the absorbents must be replaced.
- If only front-seat passengers were involved then the front absorbers up to and including the B-pillar must be changed.
- All the absorbents must be replaced if there is damage to the roof or pillars.
- If in doubt, replace all the absorbents.
- Replace any trim or absorbents that have visible damage.
The following directions must be followed when repairing interior equipment that includes energy absorbers .
- Roof pillars and headlining should only be repaired at an authorized service workshop.
- All repairs must be carried out in accordance with specified instructions and with great care.
- Components included in the system must not be dismantled or repaired. They must be handled with care
- A defective component must not be fitted.
