Vacuum Pump (Mechanical): Installation

  1. Lubricate the "O" rings and install them in place. See Fig 1 . Install the pump. Make sure that the shaft and pump are correctly positioned relative to the camshaft. Install and loosely tighten the banjo nipple.
  2. Install the 3 retaining bolts loosely. See Figure .
  3. Tighten the banjo bolt. Tighten banjo bolt to specification.
  4. Tighten the pump retaining bolts, first the 2 attaching the pump to the cylinder head and then the one attaching it to the strut. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Connect the vacuum hose.
  6. Plug in the ignition discharge module's electric connections.
  7. Wipe off all oil.
    NOTE: Inspect the "O" ring on the throttle body and change it if necessary. To make installing the "O" ring easier, it could be coated sparingly with Vaseline.
  8. Carefully connect the turbo delivery pipe to the throttle body and secure it with the bolt for the bracket on the cylinder head. Tighten the hose clamp on the throttle body.
  9. Connect the bypass valve and tighten the bypass pipe's bolt to the turbo intake pipe.
  10. Install the cover.
  11. Install the battery.
  12. Check the functionality of the brake booster.
