Parking Brake Lever: Removal

  1. Raise the car.
  2. Remove the return springs from the levers on the right and left side.
  3. Press out the rear locating sleeve from the holders on the right and left sides.
  4. Press out the front locating sleeve from the holder on the right side.
  5. Remove the cable from the levers.
  6. Remove the nuts from the heat shield plate in front of the tank. See Fig 1 .
  7. Remove the adjusting nut from the pull rod and move aside the cable adjuster. Measure the thread length on the pull rod.
  8. Remove the rubber boot.
  9. Lower the car and remove the driver's front seat and the center console. See FRONT SEAT  & CENTER CONSOLE  .
  10. Remove the 2 retaining screws for the parking brake lever as well as the cable terminal for the parking brake switch. See Fig 2 . Lift out the parking brake.
