Master Cylinder: Installation

  1. Install the master cylinder to the brake booster unit and tighten the retaining nuts.
  2. Install the brake pipe connections.
  3. On manual transmission equipped models, install the hose to the brake fluid reservoir. Remove the tray or shop cloth from under the master cylinder.
  4. Attach the connector to the brake fluid reservoir cover.
  5. Fill with the brake fluid reservoir with DOT 4 brake fluid as necessary.
  6. Bleed the brake system. See BRAKE SYSTEM  under BLEEDING.
  7. Check operation by depressing the brake pedal. Inspect for leaks and tightness of the brake pipe connections as well.
  8. Install the engine cover.
  9. Check operation of the brakes.
