Hazard flashers, detailed description: Notes

Warning function where all direction indicators are activated with a switch for hazard flashers. This switch is located on the ACC unit panel (cars with ACC) or on the heating and ventilation control panel (cars without ACC). The hazard flashers can be activated regardless of the position of the ignition switch.

The switch's hazard flasher indicator lamp is supplied power from BCM pin A17 (K78). When the switch is not closed (not in active position), the indicator shines continually with a weak glow. When the warning flashers are activated, the switch's indicator lamp is supplied with pulses that are synchronized with the flash frequency of the direction indicators and the indicator lamp flashes at full strength.

The direction indicators are located in the front headlamps, front wings and in the rear light clusters. Upon activation of the switch (25), BCM (707) sends a bus message to the fuse boxes in the engine bay and the luggage compartment, which govern the front and rear direction indicators, respectively. Flash frequency is 90 flashes per minute. In the event of filament breakage, flash frequency is increased to 180 flashes per minute and a warning message is displayed in SID.
