Draining the fuel tank

WARNING: Draining the fuel tank involves partial dismantling of the car's fuel system. The following points must therefore be observed in connection with the work:

Work only in a well-ventilated area! If approved equipment for the extraction of fuel vapors is available, be sure to use it.
Wear suitable gloves! Prolonged contact with fuel can cause skin irritation or dermatitis.
Keep a class BE fire extinguisher close at hand! Beware of sparks caused by short circuits and when connecting and disconnecting leads in electrical circuits.
No smoking anywhere in the vicinity.

The fuel tank does not have a bottom plug. When work on the fuel system involves draining the fuel tank, this can be done through the fuel filler pipe using suitable tank draining equipment.

WARNING: Cars equipped with ORVR (Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery) cannot be drained through the fuel filler pipe using the tank draining equipment as essential non-return valves can be damaged.

IMPORTANT: Bear cleanliness in mind when working on the fuel system. Prevent dirt from entering the tank and the fuel lines.
