The soft top folds down into the space between the rear seat and the luggage compartment where it is protected in the soft top storage, which leads away any water that has accumulated on the soft top through drain holes in the sills. When the soft top is raised, the soft top storage can be hung up to increase the luggage compartment volume and to enable long loads to be carried with the rear seat backrest lowered. There are two microswitches on the soft top storage that inform the control module if it is in its lowermost position or not. If it is not in its lowermost position, the control module will not lower the soft top (open) but send the bus messages "Sound" and "Text", on which SID will sound an acoustic signal and display "CHECK SOFT TOP STORAGE".
