Scraping noise from the balance link during soft top operation: Procedure

Fit clip 51 86 358, 2/car on the balance link surface. The clip covers the uneven surface which makes contact with the plastic hatch.

1. Maneuver the soft top to half open position and position the special tool Soft top support (16) 82 93 144 so that the soft top does not fall when the hydraulic pressure is released.
2. Loosen a section of the C-pillar trim by removing the screws and clip.
3. Fit the upper edge of the clip 270 mm from the center of the joint. The flat side of the clip should face towards the cabin interior.

4. Maneuver the soft top up and down in order to check that the clip is properly attached against the plastic hatch.
5. Fit the trim.
6. Check that the noise no longer occurs.
