Metallic noise from control link: Procedure

Use rubber seal, part no. 51 81 995

1. Maneuver the soft top to half open position and position 82 93 144 HOLDER, HYDRAULIC SOFT TOP  so that the soft top does not fall when the hydraulic pressure is released.
2. Remove the seals and seal retainers on the front rail.

3. Remove the rear plug on the plastic cover in the front rail.
4. Bend the cover's rear edge outwards and support it with a chisel.
5. Remove the clip and pull out the rivet.
6. Cut the rubber seal into two 15 x 11 x 7.5 mm sections.
7. Grind the adhesion surfaces and wipe clean.
8. Apply Loctite 406 (primer is not necessary) to the surface of the rubber seal measuring 15 x 11 mm.
9. Fit the rubber seal as shown in the illustration.

10. Push the control link into place.
11. Fit the rivet and clip.
12. Fit the rear plug on the plastic cover in the front rail.
13. Fit the seals and seal retainers on the front rail.
14. Check that the noise no longer occurs.
