A. Lock fittings fore-and-aft and lateral adjustment

  1. Measure between the front edge of the first bow and the front edge of the seal. If there is a difference of more than 2 mm. the locks in the first bow must be checked and adjusted.

  2. Operate the soft top to half open position and fit special tool Soft top support  (16) 82 93 144 to prevent the soft top from falling down once the hydraulic pressure is released.
  3. Remove the front seals and their retainers.
  4. Remove the retainer strip in the first bow front edge (9 screws).
  5. Remove the upholstery by the handle with a small screwdriver and remove the handle by pulling the pins out of the groove.
  6. Remove the cover fastened with two clips on the front rail. Hold the soft top support so that it does not release when the covers are folded out.

  8. Check the left lock. Make sure that the front edge of the lock is in line with the lug, and that the lock is centerd on the lug. Check the right lock in the same way.

    Check the distance between the outer edges of the latch hooks. It should be 822 mm. Correct the distance by adjusting the right  latch until the distance 822 mm is obtained.

  9. Fit the pins for the handle.
  10. Fit the plastic cover on the first bow.
  11. Fit the handle and the upholstery by the handle.
  12. Refit the retainer strip on the first bow.
    IMPORTANT: Take care so that the magnets for the lock are not damaged.
  13. Fit the front seal retainers.
  14. Lubricate the seals with soapy water. Fit the outer edges in the groove and press in the seal. Start from the front and work back. Fit the front screw.

  16. Check and adjust the front seal against the windscreen frame, if needed. SeeADJUSTING SEALS .
  17. Connect the diagnostics tool and erase any diagnostic trouble code.
