Seat Air Bag Modules: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Slide seat forward as far as it will go. Remove 2 rear seat track mounting bolts. Slide seat fully rearward and remove 2 front seat track mounting bolts. Tilt seat rearward, cut cable tie and disconnect 29-pin seat harness connector. Lift seat out of vehicle.
  3. Unfasten cord holding lower edge of backrest cover. Remove upholstery fasteners and pull stiffening board out of backrest upholstery. Disconnect air bag electrical connector from 29-pin seat harness connector under seat. Release cable by cutting cable tie. Observe location of cable for reassembly reference.
  4. Unfasten rear part of backrest cover by unfastening cover fasteners along seat sides and fold cover out of way. Remove adjustment mechanism from lumbar support. Unfasten cover fasteners along edge of rear part of backrest frame and fold cover to side.
  5. Detach 2 wire rods holding front lining at bottom rear edge of seat. Unfasten felt cover, on air bag side of backrest hinge by unfastening hook in Pullmaflex net. Remove plastic coated resistance spring. Remove 3 seat air bag retaining nuts. Observe seat air bag cable location for reassembly reference and remove seat air bag
