Air Bag Control Module: Removal

- Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Air bag control module is located under rear of center console, behind parking brake. Engage parking brake. Remove ignition switch cover by prying up rear edge, then disengaging front edges. Disconnect ignition switch lighting connector. Remove center console screws. Remove rear ashtray/cover. See Figure. Remove Torx screw at rear of center console. Remove 2 retaining nuts, then work console loose by pulling back and up on center console.
- Detach heated rear seat switch, electric window module and interior light (convertible only) switch from center console and disconnect electrical connectors. Lift off center console to expose air bag control module. Disconnect electrical connector, remove 3 nuts and air bag control module.
