Seat AIR Bag Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Saab 9-3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Ensure vehicle is located outside and at least 35 feet (10.6 m) away from other vehicles and people. Turn ignition to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Verify there are no loose objects in front seats or on dashboard.
  2. Loosen and remove driver or passenger seat mounting bolts and position seat to gain access to 29-pin seat harness connector. Disconnect 29-pin seat harness connector from under seat and connect Detonator Adapter Cable (86 12 343). Re-install seat.
  3. Verify all windows are up. Connect Detonator Adapter Cable to Air Bag Detonator Device (84 711 104). Run cable through door opening and close door. Place battery on ground about 35 feet (10.6 m) away from vehicle. Connect Air Bag Detonator Device to battery.
  4. Press button and detonate seat air bag module. An explosion will be heard and White smoke will be visible inside vehicle. Disconnect detonating device from battery as soon as air bag detonates. Because of heat, wait 30 minutes before touching deployed air bag.
