WINTER Indicator Light

  1. Disconnect Main Instrument Unit (MIU) 20-pin connector at rear of instrument cluster. See Figure . Connect test light between 20-pin connector terminal No. 18 (Red/White wire) and battery positive voltage. Turn ignition on. Use Tech 1 scan tool to contact Transmission Control Module (TCM). Activate WINTER light. If test light comes on, replace bulb. After repair, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Red/White wire between 20-pin connector terminal No. 18 and TCM connector terminal No. 7. After repair, go to step  3 .
  2. Clear DTCs. Using scan tool, perform functional check of WINTER light. If WINTER light operates, system is okay. If WINTER light does not operate, replace MIU ECU. See ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Clear DTCs. Use scan tool to check TCM operation. If TCM operation is okay, system is okay. If TCM operation is not okay, replace TCM.
