Charging System Warning Light

  1. Disconnect connector "D+" terminal on generator. Connect "D+" terminal to ground. If charging system warning light comes on, repair generator. After repair, go to next step. If charging system warning light does not come on, disconnect Main Instrument Unit (MIU) 20-pin connector at rear of instrument cluster. See Figure . Connect test light between battery voltage and 20-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Green wire). Connect "D+" terminal to ground. If test light comes on, replace charging light. After repair, go to next step. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Black/Green wire. After repair, go to next step.
  2. Clear DTCs. Perform a functional test of charging system light. If charging system light functions, system is okay. If charging system light does not function, replace MIU ECU. See ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
