DTC B1730: Fuel Consumption Signal Fault

  1. If CHECK ENGINE light is on, problem is with engine management system. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If CHECK ENGINE light is not on, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect MIU 22-pin connector on rear of instrument cluster. See Figure . Connect test light between 22-pin connector terminal No. 11 (Green wire) and battery positive voltage. Operate starter motor for 10 seconds. If test light flashes, go to step  5 . If test light does not flash, go to next step.
  3. Check wiring between MIU 22-pin connector terminal No. 11 (Green wire) and Trionic module terminal No. 5. Trionic module is located under right side of instrument panel. Repair as necessary, then go to step  5 . If wiring is okay, go to next step.
  4. Use Tech 1 scan tool to clear all DTCs. Perform a test drive at various engine loads and RPMs for 5 minutes. If DTC does not reoccur, system is okay. If DTC reoccurs, replace Trionic module. See TRIONIC MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  5. Use scan tool to clear all DTCs. Perform a functional test to determine whether DTC reoccurs. If DTC does not reoccur, system is okay. If DTC reoccurs, replace MIU ECU. See ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
