Component Tests: Speedometer
- Using scan tool, check if any Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) DTCs are present, If ABS DTCs are present, see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If ABS DTCs are not present, go to next step.
- Drive vehicle and read speed on Tech 1 scan tool. If vehicle speed is accurate, go to step 5
. If vehicle speed is inaccurate, go to next step.
- Disconnect Black 33-pin connector below left "A" pillar. Remove pin No. 6 (Orange/White wire) from male side of connector. See Fig 1
. Reconnect connector. Connect test light between battery voltage and disconnected Orange/White wire. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Turn ignition on. Rotate left rear wheel. If test light flashes, go to next step. If test light does not flash, repair open circuit in Orange/White wire between Black 33-pin connector terminal No. 6 and ABS control module terminal No. 23.
- Reinstall pin No. 6 (Orange/White wire) into connector. Reconnect connector. Disconnect Main Instrument Unit (MIU) 12-pin connector, located behind cluster. See Figure
. Connect test light between battery voltage and 12-pin connector terminal No. 10 (Orange/White wire). Turn ignition on. Rotate left rear wheel. If test light flashes, go to next step. If test light does not flash, repair open circuit in Orange/White wire between cluster connector and Black 33-pin connector located below left "A" pillar.
- Clear DTCs. Check speedometer operation. If speedometer operation is okay, system is okay. If speedometer operation is not okay, replace Main Instrument Unit (MIU) module.
