Parking Brake Indicator Light

  1. Disconnect parking brake switch 1-pin connector at parking brake lever. Connect jumper wire between switch connector terminal No. 1 (Red/Black wire) and ground. Turn ignition on. If indicator light comes on, replace parking brake switch. After repair, go to step  3 . If indicator light does not come on, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Main Instrument Unit (MIU) 20-pin connector at rear of instrument cluster. See Figure . Connect test light between 20-pin connector terminal No. 11 (Red/Black wire) and battery positive voltage. Connect jumper wire between brake switch 1-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Red/Black wire) and ground. If test light comes on, replace parking brake bulb. If test light does not come on, repair open circuit in Red/Black wire between parking brake switch and MIU 20-pin connector terminal No. 11. After repair, go to next step.
  3. Clear DTCs. Perform a functional test of parking brake indicator light. If parking brake indicator light functions, system is okay. If parking brake indicator light does not function, replace MIU ECU. See ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
