Installation (All Models)

  1. Ensure No. 1 piston is in TDC position and camshafts are aligned with their respective timing marks. See Figure. Position timing chain around crankshaft sprocket and through pivoting guide.
  2. Install timing chain and camshaft sprockets, starting with exhaust valve camshaft. Keep chain taut between sprockets. Lightly tighten sprocket bolts. Adjust chain tensioner by fully bottoming and then rotating piston to locked position.
  3. Install tensioner with piston under tension. Release tensioner by pressing pivoting guide firmly. Press pivoting guide to check tensioner operation.
  4. Rotate crankshaft 2 complete turns clockwise. Check timing marks on crankshaft and camshafts. Tighten camshaft sprocket bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Apply anaerobic sealant to timing cover sealing surface. Reverse removal procedure to complete installation.
