Rod Bearings

  1. Using a micrometer, measure rod bearing journal diameter, taper, and out-of-round. Measure bearing clearance with Plastigage.
  2. Rod bearings are available in standard and undersize. Thin and thick bearings may be combined to obtain proper clearance. See ROD & MAIN BEARING SIZES  table. Rod bearing journals may be ground one undersize without need for rehardening of shaft.
