To Remove the Lock Barrel When the Key Is Missing

To remove the lock barrel from the gear lever housing when the key is missing, proceed as follows (thereby destroying the lock barrel):
1. Remove the left-hand front seat.
2. Remove the center console.
3. Drill the plug out of the hole for the lock barrel pin in the gear lever housing.

4. Use a drift about 2 mm (0.08 in) diameter to drive in the pin, and remove the lock barrel.
Plug the hole in the gear lever housing before fitting a new lock barrel. Make the plug out of a suitable bolt or rivet, and cut it to a length of about 5 mm (0.20 in).
