Wheel Bearing: Removal
- Raise vehicle and support with safety stands. Remove wheel assembly. Release parking brake. Loosen secondary cables of parking brake so that lever may be drawn back.
- Remove dust plug from backing plate and disengage automatic adjuster. Insert a screwdriver through backing plate and hole in brake shoe, push in against parking brake lever to disengage catch. Push the lever towards the rear.
- Remove hub dust cap, cotter pin, and lock nut. Remove hub nut and washer. Remove brake drum, outer bearing, and seal. Using bearing removal tool (Rou. 370-02), place centering sleeve on axle.
- Install 2 half casings in place and clamp assembly with retaining ring. Remove inner bearing from axle with assembly and extractor tool (Mot. 49). Remove grease seal deflector with extractor tool.
