Removing Evaporator (Chiller)

NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Opened refrigerant system for repairs. 
  • Risk of moisture getting into the refrigerant system. 
  • Risk of contaminating the refrigerant circuit. 
  • Risk of saturation and irreparable damage to desiccator. 
  • Irreparable damage to the desiccator can damage the compressor and evaporator. 

    → After opening the refrigerant circuit, close off the refrigerant lines/connections immediately using the relevant stoppers. To avoid contaminating the refrigerant circuit, the stoppers for the different refrigerants must be stored and used separately.

    → The desiccator must be replaced if the air humidity is high and if the refrigerant circuit is left open for a long time.

  1. Remove bulkhead -1-  .
    1. 1.1  Screw off nut -2-  .
    2. 1.2  Unscrew screw -3-  .
    3. 1.3  Remove bulkhead -1-  .

  2. Disconnect electric wire harness -1-  .
    1. 2.1  Release and disconnect electric plug connections -2-  .
    2. 2.2  Unclip clip -3-  and move electric wire harness -1-  aside.

  3. Remove coolant hoses -1-  , from cooler box holder -2-  .
    1. 3.1  Loosen spring band clamps -3-  using > VAS 6891 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers  .
    2. 3.2  Pull off coolant hoses -1-  and set them aside.
    3. 3.3  Catch escaping coolant and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.

  4. Remove coolant hoses -1 and 2-  from voltage converter -3-  .
    1. 4.1  Loosen spring band clamps -4-  using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers  .
    2. 4.2  Pull off coolant hoses -1-  .
    3. 4.3  Catch escaping coolant and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
    4. 4.4  Release quick connectors -5-  and pull off coolant hoses -2-  .
    5. 4.5  Catch escaping coolant and close off line connections using suitable stoppers.
    6. 4.6  Set coolant hoses -1 and 2-  aside.

  5. Remove refrigerant lines -1-  from expansion valve -2-  and evaporator (chiller) -3-  .
    1. 5.1  Unscrew and remove screws -4-  .
    2. 5.2  Disconnect refrigerant lines -1-  and set them aside.
    3. 5.3  Close off line connections using suitable stoppers.

  6. Remove evaporator (chiller) holder -1-  .
    1. 6.1  Screw off nut -2-  .
    2. 6.2  Unscrew screw -3-  .
    3. 6.3  Remove evaporator (chiller) holder -1-  with expansion valve -4-  and evaporator (chiller) -5-  .

  7. Remove coolant hoses -1-  from evaporator (chiller) -2-  .
    1. 7.1  Loosen spring band clamps -3-  using > VAS 6890 - Spring Band Clamp Pliers  .
    2. 7.2  Pull off coolant hoses -1-  .

  8. Remove refrigerant line -1-  from evaporator (chiller) -2-  and expansion valve -3-  .
    1. 8.1  Unscrew and remove screws -4-  .
    2. 8.2  Pull out refrigerant line -1-  .

  9. Unscrew screws -2-  and remove evaporator (chiller) -1-  with retaining clips -3-  .
