Installing Evaporator (Chiller)

NOTE: NOTIFICATION 
Opened refrigerant system for repairs. 
  • Risk of moisture getting into the refrigerant system. 
  • Risk of contaminating the refrigerant circuit. 
  • Risk of saturation and irreparable damage to desiccator. 
  • Irreparable damage to the desiccator can damage the compressor and evaporator. 

    → After opening the refrigerant circuit, close off the refrigerant lines/connections immediately using the relevant stoppers. To avoid contaminating the refrigerant circuit, the stoppers for the different refrigerants must be stored and used separately.

    → The desiccator must be replaced if the air humidity is high and if the refrigerant circuit is left open for a long time.

  1. Position evaporator (chiller) -1-  with retaining clips -3-  .
    1. 1.1  Fit screws -2-  , but do not tighten yet.

      Evaporator (chiller)

  2. Fit refrigerant line -1-  on evaporator (chiller) -2-  and expansion valve -3-  .
    1. 2.1  Position refrigerant line -1-  .
    2. 2.2  Fit and tighten screws -4-  .

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

  3. Tighten screws -2-  .

    > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

    Evaporator (chiller)

  4. Fit coolant hoses -1-  on evaporator (chiller) -2-  .
    1. 4.1  Position coolant hoses -1-  and push them on.
    2. 4.2  Fasten spring band clamps -3-  using > VAS 6891 - spring band clamp pliers  .

  5. Install evaporator (chiller) holder -1-  .
    1. 5.1  Position evaporator (chiller) holder -1-  with expansion valve -4-  and evaporator (chiller) -5-  .
    2. 5.2  Fit and tighten screw -3-  .

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 

    3. 5.3  Fit and tighten nut -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

      Evaporator (chiller) holder

  6. Fit refrigerant lines -1-  on expansion valve -2-  and evaporator (chiller) -3-  .
    1. 6.1  Position refrigerant lines -1-  and push them on.
    2. 6.2  Fit and tighten screws -4-  .

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

  7. Fit coolant hoses -1 and 2-  on voltage converter -3-  .
    1. 7.1  Position coolant hoses -1 and 2-  .
    2. 7.2  Push on coolant hoses -2-  and lock quick connectors -5-  .
    3. 7.3  Connect coolant hoses -1-  .
    4. 7.4  Fasten spring band clamps -4-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers  .

  8. Fit coolant hoses -1-  on cooler box holder -2-  .
    1. 8.1  Position coolant hoses -1-  and push them on.
    2. 8.2  Fasten spring band clamps -3-  using > VAS 6890 - spring band clamp pliers  .

  9. Secure electric wire harness -1-  .
    1. 9.1  Position electric wire harness -1-  and clip in clip -3-  .
    2. 9.2  Connect and lock electric plug connections -2-  .

  10. Install bulkhead -1-  .
    1. 10.1  Position bulkhead -1-  .
    2. 10.2  Fit and tighten screw -3-  .

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.) 

    3. 10.3  Fit and tighten nut -2-  .

      > Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
