Preliminary Work
Information
Calibrating the Surround View camera balances the types, chassis tolerances and installation tolerances of the camera.
- The > VAS 721 001 - Calibration System is required for calibration.
- During calibration, the control unit for the Surround View camera calculates the vehicle-specific adjustment values (e.g. image rectification) for the camera image.
- After the actual calibration process, which takes approx. 2 minutes, the rectified image can be seen on the vehicle display.
Information
The following basic requirements must be observed:
- Calibration must only be performed on an empty vehicle on a level surface.
- Vehicles with adjustable chassis: Set the chassis to "normal" (medium height).
- Vehicles with front axle lift system: Set the front axle lift system to "lower".
- The doors and tailgate must be closed.
- The side mirrors must be folded out fully.
- The trailer hitch must be removed/retracted.
- The surface area required for calibration is approx. 9 x 6 m.
- The work area must be illuminated uniformly.
- Luminous intensity must be at least 400 lux.
- There must be no shadows visible on the calibration mats.
- Calibration mats must be free of wrinkles or kinks.
- Calibration mats must be clean and dry.
- To prevent damage and/or soiling, do not walk on calibration mats.
- Park the vehicle on a level, open surface.
- Position the charger in such a way that the charging cable does not cross the lines on the calibrating mats.
- Clean the calibration mats with a cloth or soft brush.
- Align calibration mats for the > VAS 721 001 - calibration system
as follows:
Align star symbols on the calibration mats 1 with the height at the center of the front axle.
The calibration mats must be aligned so that they are parallel to and symmetrical with the vehicle.
The distance from the calibration mat to the outer edge of the tire on front axle A must be approx. 80 mm.
The distance from the calibration mat in front of and behind the vehicle must be the same.
The difference in the distance from front and rear calibration mats B must not be more than 5 mm.
