Loosening Main Wire Harness In Luggage Compartment At The Left

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of main wire harness 

• Risk of damage to lines 

  → The main wire harness contains all airbag lines, antenna lines and optical waveguides.

  → The main wire harness must not be separated and is always replaced as a complete wire harness when carrying out extensive repairs.

  → If individual lines are damaged, shut off these lines and install new lines. Lay the new lines along the main wire harness and secure them to the main wire harness.

NOTIFICATION 

Incorrect handling of optical waveguides 

• Risk of damage to optical waveguide 

  → Observe the requirements for working with and installing optical waveguides.

Information 

Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!

• Always wear approved work clothes and shoes when carrying out assembly work. 
• Do not remove new parts from ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging until shortly before installation. 
• Do not touch electric pins and plug contacts. 

1. Take tyre sealing compound and compressor out of the storage tray.
2. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  and remove storage tray -2-  .

3. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on KESSY/PAS antenna at the rear.

   > 966719 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING KESSY/PAS ANTENNA

4. Only for vehicles with sports exhaust system: 

   Release and disconnect electric plug connections on servo motors for exhaust flap control at the left and right.

   > 263355 - REPLACING REAR SILENCER

   1. 4.1 Press grommet for electric line for the servo motor for exhaust flap control at the left into the passenger compartment.
5. If installed:

   Antenna lead

   1. 5.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -1-  on control unit for Lane Change Assist.

      > 917019 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR LANE CHANGE ASSIST

   2. 5.2 Unclip, release and pull off antenna line -2-  .
   3. 5.3 Press grommet -3-  into the passenger compartment.
6. Unclip main wire harness in luggage compartment at the left - rear-end connection - from holders and carefully guide it into the luggage compartment.
7. Only for vehicles with air suspension:

   Electric plug connection

   1. 7.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the rear left spring strut.
   2. 7.2 Press grommet -2-  into the luggage compartment.
8. Release and disconnect electric plug connections for the parking brake.

   Electric plug connection on brake pad

   1. 8.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on the parking brake actuator.
   2. 8.2 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  on the brake pad wear contact.
9. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear left speed sensor.

   > 451555 - Replacing rear speed sensor 

10. If installed:

    Release and disconnect electric plug connection on the rear left level sensor.

    > 431955 - REPLACING REAR LEVEL SENSOR

11. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM).

    > 443419 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING (TPM)

12. Unclip main wire harness in luggage compartment at the left - connection for rear left wheel housing - from all holders and carefully guide it into the luggage compartment.
13. Only for vehicles with rear-differential lock:

    Electric line for servo motor for rear-differential lock

    1. 13.1 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -1-  on servo motor for rear-differential lock.
    2. 13.2 Unclip electric line -3-  for servo motor for rear-differential lock from the holders.
    3. 13.3 Press grommet -2-  into the luggage compartment and carefully guide main wire harness - sub-part for rear-differential lock - into the luggage compartment.
14. Remove positive cable -1-  on power distributor.

    > 978919 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING POWER DISTRIBUTOR

15. Unclip main wire harness - sub-part for rear-differential lock - on luggage compartment floor at the centre from all holders.
16. Screw off fastening nuts -1-  and remove ground lines from ground points.

17. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on rear three-point belt at the left.

    > 691219 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR THREE-POINT BELT

18. Release and disconnect electric plug connection on head airbag at the left.

    > 696619 - REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEAD AIRBAG

19. Release and pull off antenna lines -1-  on the left antenna amplifier -2-  .

20. Disconnect antenna lines -1-  and ground line -3-  on rear roof pillar at the centre.

    1. 20.1 Unclip, release and disconnect antenna lines -1-  on the rear roof pillar at the centre.
    2. 20.2 Screw off fastening nut -2-  and remove ground line -3-  from ground points.
21. Release and disconnect electric plug connections.

    Electric plug connections

    1. 21.1 Unclip, release and disconnect antenna line -1-  on the rear left roof pillar.
    2. 21.2 Unclip, release and disconnect spray water hose -2-  .
    3. 21.3 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -3-  and unclip it from the holder.
22. Unclip main wire harness in luggage compartment at the left from the holders.
