Disconnecting Rear Silencer

Information

Before the rear silencer is released, the exhaust system must be supported with a transmission jack or held by another person.

Remove connecting strut -4- between the rear silencers -2- .

There is a small notch on the underside of the exhaust pipes. The notch marks the connection point -Arrows- .

Rear silencer connection point
Place the pipe cutter chain > Nr.166 - chain-type pipe cutter or > Nr.166-1 - ratchet pipe cutter (or similar tool) around the exhaust pipe near the notch and engage in the other end of the pipe cutter. Then tension the chain tightly by turning the handle -Arrow- .

Swivel the pipe cutter to and fro in wide movements -Arrows- until you cut through the pipe. Keep re-tensioning the chain by turning the handle.

Release and disconnect cable plugs -1- from actuators -2- .

Exhaust flap actuator

Loosen the rear holder -2- for the rear silencer.

6.1 Loosen and unscrew screw.

Rear silencer holders (figure shows V8 Turbo)

Remove rear silencer.
De-burr cut on inside and outside of exhaust pipe. If necessary, remove rust from exhaust pipe using suitable polishing agents and manually restore its round shape.
