Removing Fuel Line (Left High-Pressure Pump To Rail)

WARNING: Hot fuel and hot fuel lines. 
  • Danger of scalding 

    → Allow the fuel to cool down before opening line connections.

    → Wear protective gloves.

    → Wear protective goggles.

Information 

The rules relating to cleanliness and instructions for working on the fuel system must always be observed before and during the work.

Information 

Check fuel line for damage following removal and replace it if necessary.

  1. Expose the cable duct.
    1. 1.1 Release and pull off vent lines -5-  at the connections -4-  .
    2. 1.2 Release vacuum line -3-  at the connection points to the vacuum pump -1-  and brake booster connection -1-  , pull it off and unclip it from the bracket -2-  .
    3. 1.3 Make space by turning the vacuum line -3-  around the connection point on the intake manifold -arrow-  .

      Vent line and vacuum line

  2. Loosen cable duct -5-  .
    1. 2.1 Release and unplug electric plug connections -1 to 3-  .
      1. 2.1.1 Disconnect electric plug connection -1-  from the bracket and set it aside.
      2. 2.1.2 Release and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  for valve lift on exhaust camshaft.
      3. 2.1.3 Release and disconnect electric plug connections -3-  for fuel injectors for cylinders 5 to 8.
    2. 2.2 Unscrew nuts -4-  .

  3. Remove fuel line -1-  .
    1. 3.1 Unscrew screw -8-  and screw off union nuts -9-  .

      Information 

      • Open connections and lines must be closed off using suitable stoppers or caps. 
    2. 3.2 Lift cable duct and guide out fuel line -1-  .
