Installing Balance Shaft Drive Wheel

Information 

A new balance shaft bracing wheel comes with an assembly aid, which is used instead of the special tool > T40362 - Locking tool  .

  1. Insert special tool > T40362 - Locking tool  as far as it will go into the cut-out on the balance shaft bracing wheel and turn it 180° clockwise to lock the backlash compensation.
  2. Push balance shaft bracing wheel onto the balance shaft and check the double toothing -1-  for the balance shaft while doing this.

  3. Fit balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  .
    1. 3.1 Push balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  completely onto the balance shaft and check the markings.
      1. 3.1.1 The marking -A -  on the crankshaft (dot  ) must be between the two markings -B -  on the balance shaft bracing wheel -1-  (dashes  ).
    2. 3.2 Turn special tool > T40362 - Locking tool  180° anti-clockwise and pull it out of the balance shaft bracing wheel (or remove the assembly aid on new bracing wheels).
    3. 3.3 Fit new  screw -2-  and tighten to > Initial tightening 40 Nm (30 ftlb.)  and > Torque angle + 45°  . Counter the crankshaft at the previously fitted special tool > T40049 - Special wrench  at the same time.
