Removing Crankshaft

- Remove oil pump chain drive.
- Lock balance shaft bracing wheel -1-

- 2.1 > T40362 - Locking tool must be inserted as far as it will go into the cut-out on the balance shaft bracing wheel -1- . Then turn it 180° clockwise to lock the backlash compensation.

- Mark crankshaft bearing covers using a colour marker.
- Remove crankshaft.
- 4.1 Unscrew screws on crankshaft bearing covers -1 to 9- .
- 4.2 Pull crankshaft bearing covers off the cylinder block using puller T40332.

You will need a second mechanic to help you with this step.
- 4.3 Remove the crankshaft from the cylinder block and set it down on a clean surface.
- 4.4 Remove bearing shells and store them together with the bearing covers so that they cannot get mixed up.
