Preliminary Work

  1. Set up a warning sign No naked flames, fire, open ignition sources or smoking  in a clearly visible position in the work area or on the vehicle > Example of a warning sign  .

  2. Empty the fuel tank.

    > 2010EN DRAINING AND FILLING THE FUEL TANK 

  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. Remove cover for centre underbody at the left and right.

    > WM, 519319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR CENTRE UNDERBODY

  5. Remove exhaust system.

    > 260119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXHAUST SYSTEM

  6. Remove heat shield on tunnel.

    > 261420 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR HEAT SHIELDS

  7. Remove rear cardan shaft.

    > 393519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR CARDAN SHAFT

  8. Remove right rear seat.

    > WM, 724819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR SEAT - Coupe or WM, 724819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR SEAT - Wagon

  9. Remove rear axle (spring struts and rear axle housing) without further disassembly.

    > 420519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR AXLE HOUSING
