Install The Cylinder Head Cover

For installation, the crankshaft must be locked in position.
Information
- Sealant must not get into the threaded bores.
- Clean sealing surfaces.
- Replace seal.
- Oil the running surfaces of the camshafts.
- Check that hydraulic tappets and valve levers are fitted correctly.
- Fit cylinder head cover -20-
.
- 5.1 Apply beads of sealant with a diameter of approx. 3.0 mm all the way around.
Install cylinder head cover within 5 minutes of applying the sealant bead.
- 5.2 > T40116 - Locating pins must be inserted into the cylinder head cover -20- .
- 5.3 Insert cylinder head cover -20- into the cylinder head using > T40116 - locating pins .
Fitting cylinder head cover
- 5.1 Apply beads of sealant with a diameter of approx. 3.0 mm all the way around.
- Screw in screws for cylinder head cover for right cylinder bank as far as they will go by hand and tighten in the sequence -1 to 20-
to > Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
and > Torque angle + 90°

- Screw in screws for cylinder head cover for left cylinder bank as far as they will go by hand and tighten in the sequence -1 to 19-
to > Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
and > Torque angle + 90°

- Connect and lock electric plug connections for camshaft sensors -1-
.

- Install stoppers on camshaft -1-
.
- 9.1 Insert stoppers on camshaft -1- .
- 9.2 Fit screws for stoppers -2- and tighten to > Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) .
